THE
HARRIS-ARCHIBALD FAMILY
A growing desire to investigate
the maternal side of her family lead the author to undertake further family
research, namely:
1) a Harris Family from England
to the then British Colony: Jamaica;
2) an Archibald Family from
Ireland that also emigrated to Jamaica.
After some years of detailed
preparation and much floundering, she decided to put into print the result
of her research: "The Harris - Archibald Family"
The study centres around a series
of branches that subsequently grew in the island, and then too, a spreading
out of others to other parts of the world.
Also central to the story are the
distaff lines into which the family married: spouses with surnames that
include Shirley, Gonsalves, Peart, Oslovitch, Rhodes, Diedrich, Worms,
Wagner, Miller, Marks, Solis, Parsons, Sheppard, McDonald, McConnell, Johnston,
Ubaldi, Lehman, and many others.
