Who knows how history will go? It was while wrestling with the intracacies of her own family research, that a note in the record of her aunt's death drew the author's keenest attention. It read: "Death reported by J. Diedrich, cousin of the deceased."

This peaked the author's curiosity; as a result, she wanted to find answers to questions that now filled her mind:
'How did this person come to be related to her aunt?'
'How and from where did that family hail?'
'How and why did they immigrate to Jamaica?'
'What were the given names of the Diedrich immigrants?'
The time had come then for her research of that family: the Diedrich Family.
